Hope: a simple, yet powerful, word applicable to sea of situations.
Hope inspires dedication…
My husband, like many others, is a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. Week after week, (okay, year after year) he watches each game, never giving up hope that one day maybe, just maybe, it will be the Browns’ year. Without hope, one may be inclined to give up just as something magical is about to happen, but with it, endless possibilities lie ahead.
Hope inspires courage…
When I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, I couldn’t help but fear the worst. In spite of this, I never gave up hope. It was hope that inspired me to seek the best possible medical care, push through the pain and doubt, and do everything that I had to do to survive…and survive I did.
Hope inspires motivation…
Each day, I witness and encourage young learners striving to achieve their goals. From learning how to write their names to writing their first books, hope motivates them to keep going after the failed attempts, seemingly endless practice and even occasional frustration. It motivates me to continue giving the support that my students need, no matter how long it takes. Hope helps us believe that with time and opportunity, anything is within our reach.
For these, and many more reasons, I have chosen “hope” as my “one word” for 2016. A word I wish to instill in myself and my students this year. Here’s hoping that 2016 is a year filled with greatness inspired by this one little word.
